Versus is clueless

Versus is running a survey about their Tour de France coverage. Below is one of the actual questions with the possible answers listed below. Note that you cannot choose none of the above, nor can you skip the question. And to think this is the asinine channel that I am forced to rely on for my cycling coverage. Just read the idiotic multiples choice answers for these survey questions, and you will soon come to realize that Versus has no understanding of the sport of cycling. Not a clue. Not the faintest grasp. Pathetic.

This is my absolute favorite blog. I work in cycling and you are so spot on with so many things. Thank you for all of your work.

Your only option is to respond the box that comes after this question. I felt the same way. Its a completely loaded question which doesn't allow for the possibility that Lance Armstrong is not your favorite human being ever created. Personally I like Ptolemy followed by Cunego.

Hah. Even the most clueless Lance fan would find this a bit much.

Yaay! More Bobke and the Tour Day Fraaance. More endless Bowflex spots!! More wooden guys selling carbon bikes!! More "...riding like a man possessed!"
All Lance, all the time!!!

Lets hear it for Versus TDF coverage: 30% cycling, 70% commercial.

The survey gives you a box on the last page that allows you to insert your own opinion. It is a good chance to write how stupid the Armstrong question is and what a doper he is.

I left plenty for them to chew on in the next question. About maybe the other races would have more attention if the coverage was better. I also stated that i wished lance would just stay home so he wouldn't taint the tour more than he already has.

I think we all know VS has no clue what's going on, but I would wager that those of us who do prefer to see sycophantic coverage than no coverage at all. CBS growing up, anyone? 1 hour to encapsulate the whole week?

Plus, this is VS chance to cash in now with The Robot back in action. The on-the-fence viewers who have waned in recent years will surely be tuning in again.

It's a tough economy and these VS chaps have hung in through the lean years to do us right with 3-a-days.

I'm agreeing wholeheartedly that they simply do not have the slightest grip of reality in cycling, but at least we get to watch coverage.

That question needed a "none of the above" answer more than any of the others in the survey. I wished I could have skipped it.

Yah the questions sucked, were leading, and were clearly designed for Lance fans.

But considering the options other than versus....

oh wait... there are no other options in North America. Sigh.

What's with the 'ownership' aspect in the last question? Holy crap - some Americans really confuse patriotism with imperialism - and it gives the rest of you a bad name. That rankles as much as the Lance-worship.

Actually, Quebec (which I think is still in North America) has coverage from France 2 I believe. I've watched it. Refreshing. No yak yak "when I took a crap on the side of the road" bs. Bob Stuff.

A few remarks about Versus. First, I have low expectations of their coverage in general. Second, why can't we get coverage in high definition? If we can watch men grapple with one another in a cage in high definition, we should be able to see the Alps and Pyrenees in all their glory.

Third, I dislike Bob Roll less than I used to. I think he's a goofy moron who is having a jolly ol' time being there. (Of course I would not volunteer to travel the country with him.) On the other hand, Phil L. and Paul S. deserve to be despised for acting holier than holy and blinding fans about what takes place in cycling.

Last, but most important, now that Lance is riding in the 2009 Giro, is there going to be regular coverage? Or are we going to be forced to settle for only the highlights on Sunday afternoon? If not, I might subscribe to Cycling TV just to watch the Giro.

Well said. I took the survey because I wanted them to know that people are, really are, interested in watching cycling--the TDF especially, but the questions were ---well, stupid. When I started watching cycling I was a huge Lance fan. Now I wish he would confine himself to Texas. I am rooting for Contador. I think he is the real thing. And he is getting the shaft.

is it me or is there a hint of chinglish in those answers?
